Firstly neither of us could be considered photographers but we do like taking photographs! Nikki owns a Fuji Finepix 6800, I own a Canon EOS300D plus we we also have a JVC MC-100 digital camcorder. Like most people I suppose we tend to take most of our photos when we're away on holiday. However there are other occasions we have photographed and other subjects, such as the family events, cars and cats we have had over the years (although these are not as yet shown here on the site - hopefully they will come at a later date).
One of the main reasons for setting up this site was so that we could share our pictures with other people - friends and family mainly. You know how it is, you go on holiday, meet up with friends, new and old alike, you all take photographs then you go home and you've only got the photographs you took yourselves, you never get to see those that your friends have taken. With this site those friends are able to view our photos - and if they want to can even send us their pictures to be shown here.
Wherever possible photographs will have comments or captions, that way it makes things a little more interesting for the viewer. There's nothing more boring than just looking through image after image with no explanation or comments about them. That said entering the information is quite time consuming so please bear with us!!
We are aware that there are quite a number of photographs that are extremely similar - for example those of the Statue of Liberty in New York (how many exactly??!). There are also several photographs that could do with lightening and a bit of tweaking. You may also notice that some of photos are out of sequence. There are two reasons for this - the clocks on our digital cameras being out of sync. and some of the earlier ones were taken on my traditional SLR and then digitised when we got home. As we go through and add comments those photos that don't come up to the will be whittled down so that only the best photographs remain on the the site. The remaining ones will then be resequenced so they are in the correct sequence. I suppose we could have gone through them all before they were posted onto the site - but my main aim was to get the site up and running first.
