Archives for: April 2009
Late start!
We had a bit of an unexpected lie-in this morning as the alarm clock didn't go off.
we're normally up for around 7am but didn't get up until 7:40am! So it was a quick shower and out - no time for any breakfast. as it was we were out of the house by 8am, although we did have to come back home after a short distance as Nikki had forgotten her glasses!
I was still in work for 8:30am which wasn't bad really.
No meetings today, however I did have a chat with Paul about Plone and htat I think we should have a proper development box that I can try out plug-ins, upgrades, etc. without impacting on the 'live' installation. I also added that there should be more than just me working on it because it's not a small product. On the back of that I've arranged a meeting with the Technical Services chaps to talk about a development box.
Anyway I cracked on with getting the sub-sites working as I'd like, there are a few bits I'm not sure of but I am getting there.
Gym and keep-fit in the evening and then tea, followed by watching some television. I also did the finances to work out how much cash we need for Munich in a couple of weeks.
Smile please!
We called in at the Post Office on the way to work to pick up the jacket I'd bought on eBay on Friday.
I continued with looking at LDAP across multiple Plone sites and worked out that the settings replicate through and LDAP doesn't need to be installed for each sub-site.
We had yet another estimating meeting which took another two hours and we still haven't finished. ![]()
I rang Nikki to ask her a couple of questions about the Plone installation they use at the hospital. They had a sealed bids auction for some Canon D20 digital SLR and it appeared our bid was successful as she said she'd be bringing one home! It doesn't have a strap or a charger but it has everything else - including box, instructions, etc. When I examined it there isn't a scratch on it - superb!
The plan is to trade it and my current D300 in for a D40, but I'll need a bit of cash first - hmmm, I feel another round of eBaying coming up!
In the evening we did the usual gym session,, had tea and watched some television - including The Apprentice, which was okay, but some of the contestants are so up themselves it's untrue!
Going LDAP mad!
No meetings today so I managed to get my appraisal stuff done.
We also had a telephone conference with one of the Java developers in London to see if he could guide us through setting up a multiple module project in RAD. From what I could gather the way we have it currently set up in IntelliJ won't work in RAD. ![]()
I then did a bit more work on Plone, seeing if I could get LDAP integrated into the sub-site I'd set up last week. I got so far, all users appear to be there but they don't seem to have mapped across properly. A wee bit more effort required then!
We didn't do much in the evening, Nikki did some work on the Mac, getting some images together for printing to go with this year's Hahnenkamm Race poster - better late than never I suppose!
I had a look at some LDAP stuff on t'internet, plus we watched some bits we'd recorded from yesterday.
Estimating...
I started the day by filling in my appraisal form, which is actually quite hard work! I managed to get two small parts done.
Then at 10am I attended a meeting to do some high level estimating of the Java part of the new XTRANS project. That went on until 12:30pm. Our boss John Walker had one of his presentations on Agile from 1 - 2pm. Then it was back in to do some more estimating, which continued until just before 5pm. To say we were supposed to be estimating we didn't do very well because there was so much discussion around how the system is going to actually work.
Consequently out of 31 items to estimate we managed 6!
It looks like we'll be having another meeting later on...
It was gym and keep fit in the evening followed by watching Ashes to Ashes.
Like a dream!
We started the day in the usual manor by going to the gym - like the good people we are!
Nikki went off to do some shopping a the White Rose and I used the opportunity to upgrade her laptop to Ubuntu 9.04. Again it went like a dream and again the in-built wireless worked.
I think Nikki was quite surprised when she got back - I think she was expecting me to be cursing and still doing the upgrade - oh she of little faith!
The evening was spent watching television, including the first of the new series of Dexter that we'd recorded from friday.
Useless...
There doesn't seem to be a Saturday go by without us having tos go into Pudsey to pick up a parcel from the Post Office and of course this week was no exception! This time it was a wireless network adaptor that I'd bought plus another par of shoes that Nikki had bought from eBay.
From there We nipped into Bradford, calling in a Lister Park BMW as I wanted to get a cable so we could put the CD player into Nikki's car. The blokes in the parts department we useless it has to be said - they couldn't even work out the part I wanted even when I showed it to them on the screen.!
I went away and told them I'd come back with the part number. We also needed to get a couple of bits from Aldi and Home Bargains.
In the afternoon Nikki went off to Marks & Spencer to do a bit of clothes shopping. I had another look at my mate Andy's dad's PC. I downloaded Service Pack 4 and the roll-up update and installed them. Still it didn't make the blindest bit of difference. So I've now completely given up on the thing and I won't be wasting any more time on it. ![]()
I then decided to upgrade my laptop to Ubuntu 9.04, which went like a dream.
I can't ever think of an operating system upgrade that has gone so quickly and smoothly. The laptop now runs faster, the operating system has a very nice polished feel and what's more the built-in wireless works so no more need for an external adaptor (just like the one I picked up from the Post Office this morning in fact!
).
We watched a few bit of television in the evening, nothing of note really.
On the mend!
Paul wasn't in work today so I did manage to get a bit of peace and quiet!
I continued with the Plone styling, which is pretty much done now. I also got the site backed up ready so that if anything went wrong when I added a sub-site at least I had something to fall back on! As it was adding a sub-site didn't cause any problems, which was a relief! I didn't get chance to have too much of a play with it, but I know I'll be able to style it differently. I'm not sure how it will work with LDAP - that's something I'll have to look into next week.
Nikki did the shopping after we got in from work, I was going to have a look at some Plone stuff, but didn't bother in the end, instead I had a look on the internet for some books on Python, which is the programming language behind Plone. I ordered one from The Book Depository which seemed to get pretty good reviews.
My sister Denise rang up, she came out of hospital on Tuesday and is on the mend, but listening to what the operation involved it's no wonder she was sore! She'll be off work for some considerable time yet and she won't be able to drive for a while but at least she's home. I told her we'd pop across and see her at some stage soon.
While I was on the phone I was perusing on eBay - I bid on and won a Merc Harrington jacket! I've been looking for a little while, but they are quite expensive. I got this one for £24.00 - bargain! ![]()
Nick sent me an email containing a link about the release of Ubuntu 9.04 - it sounds impressive - an upgrade worth doing I feel!
We watched another episode of Red Riding that we'd recorded from a while back. It was okay, but much nothing really seemed to happen. ![]()
Annoying!
I gave the Plone demo to Lorraine in London this morning and it went pretty well. I've now set her up as a user so she can add content to the site. Once that was over I carried on with a bit more styling - for some reason I was having problems with images rendering - but only on the version of Internet Explorer 7 on my PC
It worked in Firefox and IE7 on other machines which was rather annoying. ![]()
We had a meeting this afternoon to discuss the plan for Plone going forward. We've got quite a lot to do. I've got to find out if it's possible to set up sites for other departments - so they can have their own look and feel. A quick look in one of my books highlighted that this was possible. I gave it a whirl on the installation on my laptop when I got home and it worked fine! I need to have a look at the mechanics and how to link between the various sites, but at least it will be possible for departments to have their own sites.
Nikki and I did the usual Thursday evening routine of gym and keep fit followed by watching a few bits on the box.
Success!
I had to find a couple more questions for the recruitment test which took a while as I had to come up with a couple of harder questions. Paul was in meetings most of the day so I didn't get chance to run them past him until later on in the day. He seemed happy with them, which is good - I might now be able to concentrate on getting some proper work done...
Tomorrow I've got to give an online demo to one f our colleagues in London, for which I'll be using Lotus Sametime Meeting, so I got Paul to show me that before he went off to his meetings. It seems straightforward enough - I guess I'll find out tomorrow!
I also continued with the Plone styling and I'm quite happy with how it looks now, but there are other attributes which ned styling that I haven't even looked at yet. ![]()
Nick and Steve were quite pleased with themselves as they managed to get the Remote Allocations application working in RAD, including all testes!
I don't know the full details, but it's certainly an achievement - especially given IBM's 'RAD' man couldn't sort it. ![]()
Niki and I went to the gym in the evening. I'd ordered a case for the spare disk out of Nikki's laptop at the weekend and that came today so I put the disk into it - now it's a little slim portable USB disk - very nice! ![]()
Exam conditions...
I carried on with the styling work on Plone this morning, it's going a bit slower than I'd like, but at least it's starting to look more like I want it to look.
The rest of the team had to do the test questions I'd set on HTML, CSS and JavaScript but rather than it being the light-hearted thing it should have been Paul made into into almost exam-like conditions, far too serious. The test had to be marked and then I went through the answers. Not sure what Paul's aim was. but it was two hours out of everyones' day... I've got a couple of questions to amend and some new ones to come up with and that will then be the final test for the lucky candidates!
At lunchtime Nikki sent me a test to say that I'd got the wrong sandwiches - she'd given me her tuna ones instead of my ham ones. As I don't like tuna all I had for lunch was a banana! ![]()
I continued with the Plone styling in the afternoon, messing about with the menus.
The traffic was really slow on the way home, not sure why - just volume of traffic I think. When we did eventually get home we had a bit of tea. Nikki cleaned the en-suite and I sorted out the incinerator from Saturday night. It needed emptying and the patio hosing down of ash.
I transferred Nikki's email and browser bookmarks across from Windows to Ubuntu so she's now up and running fully! At least her laptop now starts up and shuts down much quicker than it did. ![]()
Getting better all the time!
The traffic was a wee bit heavier than it has been of late due to the kids being back at school. ![]()
Firstly I finished off the tooltips for the Lotus Notes application. It didn't take much, it was just really letting Pete know how to integrate the jQuery to get the tooltips to display.
I then had a look at Plone and restyling the pages as I haven't been all that happy with how it looks if I'm honest.
Nick and Steve were still doing battle with RAD, even after the chap from IBM had been in last week.
I can't believe the amount of time and money that's been wasted on trying to get RAD working...
If it's taken this much effort and we're still struggling then it begs the question is the correct tool for us?
The weather was quite decent so Nick and I went out for a wander at lunchtime.
I gave my mum a call to see how Denise was getting on. Apparently she's doing well and should be coming out of hospital tomorrow, which is good news. ![]()
Nikki and I did the usual gym and keep fit and then watched some things we'd recorded off the box.
Better the devil you know...
We went to the gym first thing - and it was completely empty!
After we got back, showered and had something to eat I set about having yet another look at Andy's dad's computer. No matter what I tried I couldn't get anything to work. I tried downloading AVG anti-virus and Spybot, but neither of them would work on the version of Windows 2000. I burned another Ubuntu disk, but that wouldn't work either.
I was getting rather frustrated and decided to give up before I chucked the flaming thing out of the window! In fact the way I felt that wouldn't have been enough - I deserved driving to the tallest building in Leeds and dropping from the top of there!
Like a glutton for punishment I then had another look at Niki's laptop and getting the wireless working on that. Rather than continue trying to get the built-in wireless working I thought 'better the devil you know' and installed the Edimax drivers so that I could use one of the wireless adapters we already have and that worked! ![]()
I spoke to Andy later on to let him know my feelings on his dad's computer and that I think it's a waste of time spending any more time on it.
In the evening We watched the British Skiing Championships from Meribel that we'd recorded from on earlier in the day. It was interesting to see them skiing on one of the runs we did last year!
Burn up!
We nipped in to Pudsey as we had yet another parcel to pick up, this time it was a Sasha poster that Nikki bought off eBay. We also had some stuff to take to the charity shop (as a result of the loft clearout In fact it was more or less a repeat of last Saturday - except this week we went in my car as opposed to Nikki's!
From Pudsey we went off to have the 4-wheel geometry looked at on my car - it's been pulling all over th place recently. Not surprisingly it was out. Now that it's sorted it feels like a different car!
I had another look at Andy's dad's computer but had no success so I had another go at installing Ubuntu on Nikki's laptop which went rather smoothly. I then spent some time trying to get the in-built wireless working - which is supposed to work 'out of the box' but I had no success.
We had some paper and stuff to burn so we did that in the early evening, it didn't take that long. Not like the ones we used to have with Dan and Tracy - they used to bring some of their stuff round to burn so it would take all evening!
After we'd had a shower we had tea and then sat down to watch some television - CSI NY, Britain's Got Talent and Time Team (that we don't usually watch but Nikki wanted to watch it as it was something to do with one of King Henry VIII's lost palaces). Goodness me what a load of contrived rubbish it was too!![]()
Infected!
We called in at the Post Office to pick up a couple of parcels - a jacket that Nikki bought on eBay and a CD radio for Nikki's car that I bought on eBay. They normally go for around £65 - £75 but I got this one for £3.25 ![]()
as it apparently has a slight fault in that the volume control switches the unit off. If that is the case the it shouldn't cost that much to get the switch repaired.
It was another day of bits and bobs, mostly helping out with some JavaScript and jQuery stuff again. I started looking at the tooltips for Paul but was soon side-tracked and so didn't quite get it finished, although I did get something like Paul was after, it just needs refining.
After we got home, Nikki went off to do the shopping, I started have a look at my mate Andy's dad's computer that he was having problems with. It's quite old and runs Windows 2000 and it's been infected with some type of virus.
Best way around this I thought was to install Ubuntu on it, but before I could do that I had to install a CD drive. Which I did, but for some reason it didn't want to read the Ubuntu install CD so I gave up - I'll have another look over the weekend.
Sums it up nicely!
It was a day of all sorts today, finishing off the questions that Paul wanted me to do on HTML, CSS and JavaScript. I did some more work on the ASDP website, there is a tiny bit more needed but that's only some templates to be included when they get sent through.
I also had a couple of requests for assistance with some JavaScript and jQuery that other people were working on. There is something else that Paul wants me to do for a Lotus Notes application and that's tooltips. I've looked at this (although it was never implemented) for one of the Java applications, so I know it's fairly simple to do - especially with good old jQuery!
The chap from IBM was was in for the first of two days to try to get the Java projects we've developed up and working in RAD. Nick wasn't too sure he'd be able to do it, purely becuase he doesn't appear to have the requisite skill necessary. ![]()
As an aside I was looking for something on the intelliJ website and came across a phrase that summed up developing in IntelliJ - Enjoyable Productivity - and how true it is. The article is well worth a read!
Bit of a waste of time...
Paul wanted me to add a few more questions to those that I had done yesterday, which I did first thing.
I then had some work to do on the old ASDP site which I wrote a few years back. It's amazing how things move on - the site is basically static HTML pages and so when things change it often involves quite a lot of work. As it would seem I am the only person with the requisite skills it falls on me to make the changes. The site needs to really be maintainable by those who supply the content and that's what will happen when Plone is rolled out. It seems a waste of time for me to be doing the changes really...
The changes were only meant to be minor, but there were quite a number of them which kept me busy all day.
Nikki and I went to the gym in the early evening. It was busy when we got there but quietened off later on.
My mum rang up to let me know how Denise was getting on. It would seem that during her operation yesterday they managed to make a nick in her bowel so she'll have to be in hospital for a good few days. Understandably she's still in a lot of pain, but who wouldn't be after a 4 hour operation.
Blood letting...
Back to work this morning and as it's still the school holidays the traffic was nice and light.
I'm not currently assigned to a project now that GLOBE4 has finished so I feel this week is going to be filled with bits and bats. I updated some documentation around the flexible rewards system that I wrote a few years ago.
As we've been given the go ahead to recruit some more developers Paul wanted me to come up with some multiple choice questions around HTML, CSS and Javascript that could be used as part of a test for potential candidates. It took the best part of the day because setting question isn't as easy as it sounds! Hopefully I've come up with a good balance.
We had an appointment to give blood at 6:30pm. It wasn't very busy so we were in and back home again before 7pm!
After tea I had another look at Nikki's laptop and the wireless problem, but I wasn't getting anywhere. In fact for some reason the laptop decided it didn't want to read the CD any more
so before I got really annoyed I decided to leave it and put the old hard disk back in for the time being.
I spoke to my mum sho rang up to let me know how my sister Denise had got on with her operation today. She was meant to be having a hysterectomy by keyhole surgery but it didn't work out that way and they had to operate in the traditional manner because her bowel ansd womb were fused together
. She hadn't really come round from the anesthetic so mum said she'll have more details tomorrow.
Bedknobs and broomsticks!
Well Roger obviously did the trick this time as I didn't get a call overnight which was nice!
As we didn't go to the gym yesterday morning we did get up and go this morning.
Nikki wanted to take the two pairs of shoes back that she'd bought from TK Maxx last week so we did that. We also went to CCL Computers at Tong so that I could get another hard disk for Nikki's laptop. that way I can install Ubuntu on it while keeping the existing disk intact.
We watched Bedknobs and Broomsticks in the afternoon - a film I had never seen before and it was mildly entertaining.
I installed Ubuntu no problem, but as seems to alway be the case I couldn't get the built-in wireless working.
More effort required methinks...
Aching bones!
Well Roger's actions didn't work as I had yet another call
I sent Roger an email and he said he'd have another look. Later on he got back to me to say he had definitely sorted it this time - we shall see!
We gave the gym a miss, mainly due to my aches and pains! I don't think I'd have been able to do much had we gone anyway.
Neither of us was sure whether the tip would be open today with it being Easter Sunday but a quick recce soon confirmed that it was open. We loaded the car up with all the computer equipment and after two trips it was all gone.
Later on we went across to my sister Denise's for tea, which was quite nice. We didn't plan on staying all that late but it was well into the evening before we left.
It doesn't bear thinking about!
Matthew's thought about last night's problem being restricted just to yesterday didn't ring true as I got another call! At least this time I didn't have to get up as the resolution was the same as last night!
I spoke to Matthew in the morning and he was going to have a word with Roger, who had a look at it and rectified the problem so it should happen again tonight.
We nipped into Pudsey as Nikki had a parcel to pick up from the Post Office, which was a pair of shoes she'd bought on eBay.
When we got back it was up into the loft to start the clearout that we didn't do yesterday. It took most of the rest of the day and into the early evening to sort it all out, but we got there. We've got a huge pile of old computer which is destined for the tip which there is nothing wrong with, it's just out of date. I can't begin to imagine how much money we must have spent on computers over they years and it's all going to the tip.
There is another load of stuff to burn plus two large bags of stuff for the charity shop. When I get a bit more time there's even more things to go on eBay.
I have to say that by the end of the day I wasn't half aching - especially my knees!
We watched a few bits on television in the evening including the Doctor Who Easter special which was okay, definitely not one of the better episodes though.
Clear out!
I got called out again last night, but it was a problem that could be dealt with in the morning so it wasn't too bad.
We had a bit of a lie-in. When we'd got up and had breakfast I thought I'd better look into the problem from last night while Nikki went off to do the shopping. I couldn't really fathom what the problem was so I gave Matthew Evans a call. He had a look but didn't really understand what had happened either and said we'd just leave it and wait until we're back at work on Tuesday. He seems to think I won't get called again tonight because the data being processed is on a day-to-day basis.
We had planned to start clearing out the loft today but had a clear out of our wardrobes instead. My sister Denise rang up later on in the afternoon, she jsut wanted a bit of a natter.
In the evening it was the usual catching up on more bits we'd recorded.
Sexy!
We called in at the Post Office again this morning on the way to work - this time it was to pick up a book that I'd ordered - Sexy Web Design which hopefully will help me when it comes site design - I'm okay with certain aspects but I'm not particularly creative or artistic when it comes down to it.
First thing I did a few very minor CSS tweaks and got those checked in before the showcase. This was the last iteration of the project. To be honest we didn't get a great deal of feedback from those in attendance which was rather disappointing.
The contract tester, Georgina finished today so we went to the pub for a bit of lunch and drink with her. When we got back we had the project retrospective which went quite well, with a few points for us to work on coming out of it.
Not really sure what I'm going to be working on next week - I know Paul wants a few bits of CSS doing on a couple of Lotus Notes applications, plus there's some more Plone stuff that needs doing so I guess I'll be doing some of that!
We went to the gym in the evening as usual and watched some more bits we'd recorded. Jon at Thoughtworks had left a comment on yesterday's blog entry and I hadn't heard from him for a while, so I sent him an email.
Peppered with meetings..
It's a good job that we'd got the majority of the work done because today was full of meetings - a team meeting, a one-to-one and another to discuss what we want a chap from IBM to tell us about RAD functionality and how we can use it in the same way as we do with IntelliJ.
That said I did manage to get some work done. From day one I've never been keen on the home page for the site so I set about changing it using some new images that we'd got. Now it looks a bit more professional and appealing. Now all I've got to is get the change past Jennie! ![]()
I spoke to my mum when we got in from work, before we went off to the gym. We then watched some more bits we'd recorded from television.
Deadline looming...
I'm on call this week and I got a call at 04:30 saying that one of the boxes in the schedule was looping. In fact it wasn't looping just waiting for a trigger, which it does every night. In fact they shouldn't have called me at all.
Thankfully it didn't take too long for me to get back to sleep.
We called in at the Post Office on the way to work, Nikki had a package to pick up - a pair of boots she'd bought on eBay.
I got the final test passing - I just went through it with Jim and we both worked out that the stored procedure being tested didn't return a number of cartons so i was perfectly legitimate to test for a zero amount. Then the test passed, enabling me to promote the code. I then continued with getting the documentation up to scratch. By the end of the day I'd got everything done. Nick also got the messaging stuff hed been doing in. Tomorrow is deadline and we've come in well within time, which is good.
The traffic coming home was quite poor, there must have been an accident coming up Tong Road because nothing was moving. We took a slight diversion via Armley to get around it.
A night off the gym tonight, Nikki coloured her hair in the evening, we caught up on a few bits of television and I replied to the email we'd had from Dan & Tracy.
Unseated...
It was the start of the school Easter holidays which meant the traffic was a bit quieter.
We don't have that much more to do on GLOBE4 now, Nick was working on passing a more meaningful message through to the screen when we get any errors. I, along with Jim started on getting the final extra column on to the screen - the number of cartons. Jim changed the stored procedures and I started with writing the tests. By the end of the day we'd got it all in and working - the only thing when we came to run all tests there was one failing, so we couldn't promote it. Hopefully we should be able to get that done tomorrow morning. Once that's done I'll finish off the documentation and that'll be everything done.
I'd bought a new PRAM battery for the Mac last week and that arrived today so I put that in before we went ot the gym in the evening. Not sure what happened but after I'd done so I couldn't get the monitor to come on! I think I must have unseated the graphics card.
We'd had an email from our long-lost friends Dan & Tracy in New Zealand - we haven't heard from them for ages so it was nice to do so. Hopefully we'll be able to catch up with them on Skype over the weekend.
Ropey!
I felt a wee bit worse for wear this morning it has to be said, however we still went to the gym. That certainly cleared out a few of the cobwebs if nothing else!
We needed to get a few bits from Aldi, which meant a trip to Bradford to do so. While we were there we also nipped in to TK Maxx, I didn't get anything but Nikki got a couple of pairs of shoes.
I did a tiny bit of Java work and then later on we caught up on the final outstanding episodes of Heroes, which means we're now up-to-date.
And another party!
We walked into Pudsey first thing, to the Halifax to pay a bit of spare money into the mortgage. I went to the jewellers to see how much it would cost to have my grandad's ring reduced in size so that it will fit on my finger. It's going to cost about £15, which I didn't think was too bad so I left it with them to do. Nikki had an appointment at the hairdressers so I walked home.
Nikki usually manages to pay the credit card bill at the bank at the hospital, but that's now closed so we had to go into Leeds to do it. We had a wander round and bought absolutely nothing!
In the evening it was my sister Jacqueline and her husband Andrew's joint 40th party. They were having it at a place called LS17 (which used to be The Allerton pub) on Nursery Lane in Alwoodley, It was a fairly good night. We met my mum's new chap George, he seems very nice. We also caught up with a number of other people we haven't seen for ages - not least my cousin David and his wife Pauline who we haven't seen since they returned from their ill-fated Australian adventure. They went to live out there but after two years decided it wasn't for them.

Another problem...
The day didn't go quite as planned. I expected to get the work I'd been doing yesterday in, but there was a problem with one of the tests. It would appear that Ken had put a change in to one of the stored procedures after I went home last night. The procedure now operates in a different manner and it highlighted a problem with one of the tests and the data that had been set up for it. It took me, Nick and Steve most of the morning to work out what we needed to do to fix it.
Finally in the afternoon I manged to put my documentation work in. All it needs now is a bit of tweaking to the styling.
After we got in from work Nikki went off to do the shopping and I had a little twang on my guitar, something I haven't done for quite some time.
Later on we sat down and started working our way through watching the backlog of Heroes episodes.
Good day!
Another good day's work today.
The stuff we'd worked on yesterday was tested and apart from one little issue (which turned out to be a bit more difficult to rectify than we first thought
) everything was fine.
As for the slight problem, it was to do with the drop-down selection boxes and the fact that the default for all records was a blank (as opposed to saying something like "All") and a blank is also a valid value for one of the filter fields. To get around this we had to delve into the wonderful world that is Spring! After a bit of investigation we managed to find out how to populate the default entry and fixed the problem.
I did a bit of work implementing some of my documentation bits and bobs, starting with getting the test written and work. That involved sorting a list of objects - which isn't the easiest thing to do in Java!
The evening was the usual gym and keep fit plus a bit of television.
Flying through!
We were a bit late setting off for work as Indie didn't was nowhere to be seen when we were about to leave.
Thankfully she did show up about 10 minutes later.
Steve and I are cracking on at a great pace, we finished off the stuff we were doing yesterday. Then we added a filter to one of the screens, something that turned out to be less complicated than we anticipated and we got it done in the afternoon.
There were a few April Fools jokes doing the rounds - at first I thought Alan Shearer going to Newcastle as manager was one! The BBC's iPlayer toaster was a particularly poor attempt but the best had to be BMWs magnetic traction system that latches on to the car in front saving you petrol! ![]()

Gym as usual in the evening and we watched a bit on television - the last episode of Yellowstone which was another particularly good programme and the 1000th Deal of No Deal.
