Three Cheers For Mrs Butler!

I had one last thing to get finished before we start on our new project next week, so I cracked on and got that finished - I just managed it within the day!

We'd had an email earlier in the week letting us know about the St Josephs Amature Dramatics Society show tonight and whether we'd like to go. Tracy used to be in the group and we know most of the others and we've been to plenty of other shows so we decided to go along. It was a good show, based around a primary school classroom and very funny, possibly the best one we've been to.

Afterwards we went for a drink to Bojangles with some of the members of the group. We haven't set foot in there since it opened as we don't tend to go into the centre of Pudsey on a night out. It wasn't too bad or busy when we arrived but it got busier (and the music louder) the later it got. We had a few drinks and headed for home about 11:30pm.

Ten pin bowling!

Another fairly quiet day at work, I think ir's the calm before the storm!

We finished early (4:30pm) as we were going 10-pin bowling in Leeds at 7pm. Rather than stay at work Nick also came home with us. We just about had time for a cup of tea and then got the bus back into Leeds. We were bowling at the Merrion Centre and so had quite a walk up from the bus stop, consequently we were a few mintes late, but it didn't matter as they hadn't started.

As for our bowling, well the least said about that the better! I might be a 'pro' on the Nintendo Wii - but I was far from it in real life! With scores of 85 for the first game and 107 for the second I was never going to be a world beater. Nikki and Nick were both on my team, Nikki did worse than me (and in fact came second last overall!) and Nick did better than me. Still it was a good night. There were over 20 of us there were some high scores. Philip Harvey, who was on our team managed a very creditable 160 in his first game, but then only scored 75 in his second game! The highest score of the night went to Stuart Saxton with 168.

The bowling finished just after 9pm. There was some food laid on in the bar, so we all sat down for that and had a couple of drinks. A few of us then went round the corner to the Fab Cafe for a drink. We got the last bus home and were home just before midnight.

One thing though - I took my camera but forgot to use it!!

Hoorah on two counts!

It was nice to have a bit of a lie-in this morning as it has been quite a tiring week.

We didn't even get awoekn by the postman as he came later than usual. He did bring a guitar magazine and DVD that I won on eBay yesterday lunchtime - now that's what I call quick delivery!

Around mid-morning we went into Leeds as Nikki wasnted to get a pair of brown shoes (yes the same pair of brown shoes she was looking for last weekend!) It wasn't looking hopeful as none of the shops we ventured into had anything suitable - that was until the last one (Ecco)! Thankfully they came up trumps - they had three pairs. After some deliberating Nikki settled on a pair and we headed for home - that's hoorah number 1.

We watched the final bits of skiing and I spent the latter part of the afternoon playing my guitar.

Our friends Ian & Cath came round in the evening. They live in Bramley so I went down and picked them up at aroud 7:30pm. Ian is an old Air Force buddy of mine, so we've known him & Cath for quite a number of years now. We didn't cook a meal or anything, just had some nibbles and had a few drinks. We spent the whole evening talking (accompanied by a bit of music courtesy of NME TV) and it passed pretty quickly. Something drastic has happened to the taxis in Pudsey as Nikki ordered one for Ian & Cath to go home at 11:30pm, the phone was answered promptly and the taxi arrived on time - hoorah number 2!

Keith's 50th birthday bash

Not that we were really expecting 'Angela Moore' to come to view the house this morning, but we got up quite early anyway. Our suspicions were confirmed when nobody arrived.

I used the morning to sort out the cables at the rear of my desk which needed doing.

Nikki's brother Keith and his wife Jayne came up - Nikki had arranged to meet Jayne at the White Rose Shopping Centre. I spent some time in the afternoon playing my guitar.

Keith arrived at our house around 3pm, Nikki and Jayne about an hour later.

We had a table booked at Zouk (a fairly new Indian restaurant that we hadn't been to before) at 8:30pm. Keith we round and picked up Arch and Cath about 7pm. We had a couple of drinks and the taxi came at 8pm. Can't say we were overly impressed with Zouk - don't get me wrong the food was nice enough, but the service was pretty poor. We had we considerable wait for our table even though we'd pre-booked it, consequently it was quite late by the time we finally got our food.

After we'd finished we came back to ours and had a few more drinks, in the end it was a late night as we didn't get to bed until 2am.

A bit of a do

As I mentioned earlier, today was the start of my two day trip to London with work. Around 30 of us were meeting up for a day and a half's meeting and a bit of a do tonight.

It was quite an early morning for me - up at 6 - taxi for 06:45, the train was at 07:40 and the journey passed without incident and we arrived in London around 10am. It was a swift walk across town to the Fashion Retail Academy where our meeting was.

The meeting went quite well and we covered quite lot of ground although somewhat slower than was originally thought, as you can probably imagine with 32 people around a table all wanting to have their say! We didn't get as far through the list of stuff we had to cover, but time was pressing on and we had a table booked at Kettners for 7:30pm We were all staying in the same hotel - the Holiday Inn, Regents Park and all had to check-in. By the time we'd done that there was just time for a quick shower.

A few of us had a quick drink in the hotel bar - I'm glad I wasn't drinking wine - at £6.50 per glass!! 88|

It was quite a walk to Kettners, in Soho and there was some confusion when we got there - we were told there was a bar, but we couldn't find one and so went straight to the table. The wine and beers soon appeared, by default they brought out the stronger Peroni Gran Riserva (6.6%) however I asked for the usual Nastro Azzurro (5.2%). The original order for wine was 6 bottles of red and two bottles of white, however theses were polished off relatively quickly especially as the staff kept topping up anybody's glass that wasn't full!

Food wise I had leek and potato soup followed by chicken and a luke warm Irish coffee to finish. Everybody enjoyed their food and it was a great evening. I'm just glad I wasn't picking up the bill which came to a whopping £1700 88| - thankfully the company paid!

The thing with Soho is that the pubs don't stay open very late, so we went back to the hotel and had a handful of us had a few drinks in the bar - and got to bed at 2am, feeling slightly merry it has to be said!
